For more than 50 years, the Athens Festival has been the center of summer culture, bringing the best of the arts, music, theater, dance and drama to its various theaters, many of which are ancient monuments and sites. One such venue is the ​​Epidaurus ancient theater, which is probably the most important monument of the ancient Greek drama tradition. In combination with the remnants of the sanctuary of the healing God Asklepios, the whole location of Epidaurus is one of the places you need to see while in Greece. During the summer, there are several ancient Greek dramas, mostly performed in modern Greek, although international productions also take place. The experience of attending a dramatic play in the ancient theater is unique. Performances are in Greek but in the programme you will find summaries in other languages too and English subtitles for the Festival’s productions.
